All classes are 3-5 weeks and most will end with an alfresco or outdoor class if applicable.  $25 covers the cost of one class but not materials for adults. Students are expected to bring materials the first night of class to make best use of their time. The Studio Art Center is not liable for any injury sustained during the class or for personal items left/stolen on the various properties where classes are held..

 

Art History in Action

 

 In this 4 week class we will be studying a brief art history lesson from a famous artist and then trying to recreate that particular art method. For instance, studying Seurat then making a pointillism for the remainder of class. This technique will lead to appreciation and knowledge of the various art movements throughout history. This is a popular method for homeschoolers as well as adults.

 

Supply List: *Acrylic paints * jar for water*paper towels * colored pastels* watercolor or drawing paper * charcoal pencils* brushes for painting * trash bags for covering the table * pallette

 

Found Object Art

In this 4 week course we will take ordinary objects from around the house and make unique works of art using them in unconventional ways.

 

Supply List:

 

Any objects that you feel you can make into art such as plastic bottles, fabric, paper, rope, coins, tin cans,etc..... * some glue such as E6000 that works with a variety of objects * scissors or tin snips or both * sharpie or other marking method prior to cutting  

 Charcoal/Colored Pastels

 In this 4-5 week class we will be examining the importance of color on drawing objects. We will first draw a series of objects or a landscape in charcoal and then draw the same objects in colored pastels and see the importance of color on art making! Last class will be held alfresco.

* charcoal pencils various hues * kneaded eraser * newsprint * paper for drawing or charcoal * colored pastels * trashbag to cover table *hard item or board to tape paper to *masking tape or duct tape

 Drawing in Charcoal

In this 4-5 week class we will cover drawing topics such as perspective, tonal variation, proportion, shading, form, space, foreground/background, and various other drawing subjects. We will work primarily in Charoal and work on a still life, a street scene and a landscape just to name a few. The last class will be an alfresco class held outdoors if participants desire that option. Also method used for Sunday Afternoon Drawing Classes.

 

Supply List: *Charcoal pencils various hues * charcoal sticks various thicknesses/shapes ( square and round, thin and fat)* pad of newsprint * pad of charcoal or drawing paper * kneaded eraser * board or hard item to tape paper to *masking or duct tape to tape paper to hard item * trash bag to cover table * hand held mirror
